08–Oct–02 – PG Citizen
Dear sir:
Given the transit study recently commisioned by the city will take at least two months, the report will be received and acted upon by a new city council.
I suggest our new council can get full value for city's investment in a consultant if they have some first-hand knowledge of what it's like to live a public transit lifestyle. So I am proposing the Transit Challenge.
Quite simply it is this: those elected to council agree to park their cars for two weeks and take the bus to places and events they normally drive a car.
Our new councillors will directly experience the challenges of relying on our bus service, and will receive the consultant's report with a perspective unavailable any other way.
