Petriw brings new blood to council race
Prince George - Marketing consultant and designer Shawn Petriw today announced his intention to seek a seat on Prince George city council.
"This election is about our opportunity and ability to become a first-class city," said Petriw. "We need some new blood on city council, together with wisdom and experience, to take advantage of this important turning point in our history."
Mr. Petriw feels his passion, perspective and promotional savvy will be a welcome addition to city government.
"Council is a team effort and unique perspectives add strength by challenging each councillor to be that much sharper."
Mr. Petriw's vision centres around three major themes, including a strategic focus on downtown.
"Creating a first-class downtown, where people live, work and play, addresses four of the eight strategies outlined in the Official Community Plan."
He is also enthusiastic about developing service and operational excellence at City Hall and expanding lifestyle opportunities.
"A multi-field indoor soccer and sports complex is needed immediately, and we need a downtown performing arts centre in the next three years. We must also actively support the bidding and organizing of tournaments, festivals, conventions, trade shows, entertainment and cultural events."
Mr. Petriw believes increasing excitement, opportunity and lifestyle in the coming decade will be created by new thinking, new investment, and new, dynamic people.
"In short, our future relies on new blood."
